The Helsinki City Council has elected Shawn Huff to serve as acting Deputy Mayor for Education during Reetta Vanhanen’s family leave from 9 January to 4 October 2026.
The Mayor leads the City and serves as chairperson of the City Board. The Deputy Mayors serve as chairpersons of the division committees and are members of the City Board. The City Council elects the Mayor and Deputy Mayors from among the councillors for the duration of the electoral period.
