By decision of the City Council (22 September 2021, section 282), the operations of Helsinki City Transport (HKL) have been transferred to Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd,(Link leads to external service)(Link leads to external service) with the exception of operations related to the metro infrastructure and metro operation agreements.
HKL remains responsible for operating the metro in the Capital Region and maintaining the metro infrastructure. The Board of Helsinki City Transport oversees HKL’s operations.
The City Board appoints the members of the Board of HKL for the City Board’s period of office.
The Board has five members. Each member has a personal deputy member.
